Idea projektu

Structures from Imagination: Artistry Within Restriction" is not just a compilation of structures, but a testament to the resilience of creativity which sprouted regardless of the various conditions I was put under. As a girl, I was told architecture wasn't a path for my gender, and I was pressured to pursue a career in the sciences instead. My parents advised that science was a better path, and although I am currently studying a science-related field, my heart never connected with it.Architecture often feels out of reach for me right now, but I have chosen to hold onto it in my heart regardless. Each structure represents an emotion and a solution to my self-discovery and most importantly harmonization of these structures with the environment and new creative expression of what buildings could be like.

Popis projektu

1.) The Interlocked Facade: Foliate Inspiration
Used as the cover page, this structure was inspired by a plant I saw during lectures and the way the leaves curled up on each other. This type of structure would be suitable for an Art Gallery as the building itself is already a sculpture.

2.)Trusses of Discovery
This was my first attempt at drawing a building. It came from a desire to shift from the normal box and a triangle into something different. The lines seen across the structure are trusses to support the building, which would serve as a Tech Startup Headquarters.

3.) Spontaneous CubismThe idea behind this sketch was inspired by a pike of cubes stacked up on top each other to form a large structure. Each block inside this building represents a single unit; since the blocks are unevenly distributed, the spaces can serve as balconies or mini-gardens. This building would be most suitable as a Hotel or Multi-unit Apartment.

4.)The Heritage Archive: A Grid of Perseverance
This structure was intentional and drawn out of proportionality using grid lines. The traditional design gives a sense of Africa's heritage along with the shingles used as the roofing. The big circle in the designs found a the entrance was intially incoperated into the grid to increase proportionality, so not only is it a design feature it was used in drafting the proportions along with the grid lines. The structure took a lot of time to work on which represents the perseverance in it's name and the archive reveals the purpose of the building as a museum. This building represents a Museum of Africa's Heritage.

5.) Prismatic Catharsis: Fragments of a Fallout
This rough sketch was made from a place of hurt following an argument with my parents. While it was drawn out of anger, although it's not my best piece as it was just a rough sketch representing my emotions at that time, making it not as gonna as my other sketches to me, regardless,I still enjoy it's deconstructive style. This complex structure is designed as a Research & Innovation Hub.

6.)The Emergent Shell
Born from a place of uncertainty about my career choice while sitting at a balcony, I made a rough sketch of this structure in my note pad just to clear my head. I reviewed the little sketch I made and wanted to see more structurality, so I redrew this to make the idea more realistic. I left the facade plain to focus on the sculptural form of this Landmark Skyscraper.

7.) The Cubic Hourglass Tholos
Drawn during a science lecture to pass time, this is an upgrade to "Spontaneous Cubism" except the cubes are stacked in the shape of an hourglass and enclosed in a tholos. It was Inspired from acient Roman and Greek architecture, the stacked cube idea behind the spontaneous cubism and the shape of an hourglass. This building would best serve as a Museum of Contemporary Art.

8.) The Faceted Prism
I made this sketch in class when I was bored and refined it on A4. I used extension lines to help discover the form and enjoyed the deconstructive style. This building is a Corporate Office.

9.)The Compressed Mushroom Stadium
Inspired by a mushroom, I reimagined its form into a compressed state which brought about this organic structure. The The urge to experiment with curves rather than geometric shapes and extension lines was a test trying to see if I could attempt curves just like Zaha Hadid. The circular form of this National Stadium creates a vast sense of space inside.

Technické informace

The construction of these buildings is envisioned through a mix of structural and adaptive materials to suit their unique forms:
Organic Shells (Sketches 1 & 9): Envisioned as reinforced concrete shells or lightweight membranes to achieve seamless, sweeping curves.
Geometric Grids (Sketches 2, 5,6 & 8): Designed using steel diagrid exoskeleton systems and high-performance glass facades to allow for structural transparency and natural light.
Modular Units (Sketches 3 & 7): Conceptualized as prefabricated modules that can be "plugged in" or stacked, allowing for adaptive growth and future expansion of the building footprint.

African culture (sketch 4)
The patterns are achieved using brown clay to add a sense of colture to the museum
