Idea projektu

A staircase and viewing platform nestled below a cliff edge, connecting the upper terrain with the landscape below while responding sensitively to the natural rocky and forested environment.

Popis projektu

The project is a wooden staircase and platform structure set into a steep natural hillside. The design uses three primary materials — wood, steel, and concrete — each chosen for specific structural and aesthetic roles. The wooden platform creates a contrast with the natural stone cliff face, while the steel construction provides the primary structural framework. The object is partially hidden within the trees and surrounding greenery, minimizing visual impact on the landscape. The curved wooden platform provides a gathering and viewing space that relates to the natural contours of the terrain. The design aims not to dominate its surroundings but rather to integrate as a subtle intervention, offering new perspectives of the landscape and valley below.

Technické informace

The structural solution uses a steel primary construction anchored to the terrain with concrete foundations. Wooden steps and a curved wooden platform are supported by steel angle brackets and beams. The construction is designed to allow natural drainage and minimize ground disturbance. Railings are metal with transparent infill to maintain views. The section through the staircase axis shows the structure spanning approximately 10 meters of elevation change. Plans are shown at 1:100 scale with a site plan at 1:5000. A construction axonometric diagram details the layered assembly: steel main structure, steel angle brackets, wooden steps, railings, and the elevated wooden platform.
