A memorial or intervention at the site of the Red Tower of Death (Rudá věž smrti), a historical site associated with forced labor and political persecution in Czechoslovakia, creating a contemplative space that preserves and reinterprets the memory of the place.
The project proposes a circular pavilion structure situated in the landscape near the existing historical buildings of the Red Tower of Death. The design features an octagonal or circular plan with a transparent, grid-like facade that allows views through to the surrounding landscape and existing structures. The pavilion serves as a memorial space, with a central open area covered by a roof structure. The approach is along a cobblestone path leading from the historical complex to the new intervention. The transparent walls reference the themes of imprisonment and visibility, while the circular form creates a contemplative gathering space.
The structure features a circular floor plan with a grid/mesh facade system. Sections show a single-story pavilion with a flat or slightly curved roof. The axonometric drawings reveal a layered construction with circular walls composed of a wire or metal mesh grid system. The floor plan shows an octagonal geometry inscribed within the circular form. Cross sections (A-A' and B-B') indicate the relationship between the new structure and existing grade levels.
