Idea projektu

An entrance pavilion for the Holešovice exhibition grounds inspired by the natural transition between exterior and interior spaces, drawing from Japanese folding composition style (Sensu) and the Baroque and Art Nouveau architectural context of the surrounding area.

Popis projektu

The concept of the entrance building to the Holešovice grounds responds to the need to create a natural and attractive gradual transition between the public space and the historic exhibition complex. The design is inspired by the fan-like folding form (Sensu), creating a dynamic structure that unfolds from a compact base into an open, welcoming gesture. The object enters the terrain dynamically through rising and descending levels, dissolving into a lattice-like skeletal form that allows interplay of light and shadow. The building serves as a primary entrance point while also creating a new public gathering space with views toward the historic Industrial Palace.

Technické informace

Site plan at 1:200 scale. Floor plans shown for ground floor (1.NP) and second level (2.NP). Night elevation at 1:100 scale. The structure features a series of angled timber or steel ribs creating a parametric canopy that transitions from solid enclosure to open pergola. The building integrates into the existing topography with partially sunken spaces, reaching heights from +0.000 to approximately +5.300.
