A ceremonial hall for final farewells located near the Hradiště cemetery in Dolní Břežany, designed to emerge from the landscape of the cemetery and park, respecting both functional and symbolic aspects of the site.

Popis projektu

The design for a farewell ceremonial hall is situated on two adjacent parcels neighboring the village of Dolní Břežany. The building form is based on a cruciform floor plan with an enclosed circular courtyard, emerging from a minimalist cubic building volume that is set into the sloping terrain. The entrance is recessed into the front wall of the building. The roof is flat with rows of trees and greenery, symbolically connecting to the surrounding cemetery landscape. The building serves as a place where natural light and atmosphere play key roles - the hall opens to four directions with views of nature, creating a contemplative space. The circular courtyard at the center provides intimacy and positive energy through natural daylight entering the ceremonial space. The structure emphasizes simplicity and verticality, with exposed concrete and natural materials reflecting the dignity of its purpose.

Technické informace

The building uses exposed concrete (pohledový beton) and massive linden wood (masivní lipové dřevo) as primary materials. The floor plan is organized around a central circular mourning hall with surrounding functional spaces including areas for personnel, bereaved families, and ceremonial proceedings. The western and eastern elevations show a single-story structure set into terrain with a green roof. The section reveals interior heights of approximately 3 meters with the building partially embedded in the landscape. Scale drawings include floor plan at 1:150, elevations at 1:100, section at 1:100, site plan at 1:1000, and wider situation at 1:100000.
