A gazebo/pavilion symbolizing the diversity of student life at the FA ČVUT campus in Prague Dejvice, serving as a gathering space that reflects the dynamic and creative aspects of student existence.
The project is located in Prague Dejvice, at Atelier Pešlová - Kolařík site. The pavilion (altán) symbolizes aspects of student life and serves as a multifunctional space supporting social interactions, relaxation, and creative activities on campus. The design uses an asymmetric parametric form that suggests organic, ever-changing qualities, with a dynamic roof structure and flexible interior spaces. The building is divided into segments that can serve different functions - from relaxation to study workspace. The concept creates synergy between energy, creativity, and the active nature of student life, providing a space for social activities, discussions, and creative expression while also offering quiet contemplative areas.
The main structural system consists of wooden columns anchored into a reinforced concrete foundation of variable cross-sections. The columns are made of glued laminated timber (glulam) with additional steel structural elements extending to the roof. The asymmetric structure uses variable cross-section beams connected with laminated joints. The framework uses timber trusses with laminated connections. The roof is clad in Corten steel panels. The floor features stone mosaic paving with stone seating elements. Charred wood (Yakisugi technique) is used for certain facade elements. The drainage system is integrated into the design.
