The main idea is to create a modern and fully functional sports center that responds to the surrounding context. The goal is a compact building that integrates as much as possible with the surrounding urban fabric while reacting to its environment. The design focuses on sustainability and creating a safe environment for athletes and other visitors.
A multifunctional sports hall in Prague 8 Ďáblice. The project is an urban-architectural design for a new sports-residential area that would become a natural center and complement new residential developments in the city. The sports hall serves both organized sports and leisure physical activities for the general public. The building mass is partially embedded into the terrain given the scale of the structure. The green facade, which is the dominant visual feature, uses a supporting trellis system for climbing vegetation. This living green wall acts as a sunshade preventing overheating of the interior in summer months and optimizing the microclimate. Functional zoning and transport are addressed by converting existing tennis courts to create additional parking space, with vehicular traffic diverted to the edge of the site while the remainder functions as a pedestrian zone.
