A lookout and recreational structure designed as an organic loop-shaped wooden boardwalk situated on a rocky hilltop above the Berounka River, integrating natural landscape with an architectural intervention.
The Loop above Berounka is a lookout and recreational object inserted into the rocky hilltop above Tetín nad Berounkou. The concept is a sinuous wooden boardwalk that weaves through and around the existing rock formations and vegetation, creating a continuous walking path with viewpoints overlooking the Berounka river valley. The organic form of the structure responds to the natural terrain, wrapping around boulders and trees while providing visitors with an elevated walkway experience through the landscape. The design preserves the natural character of the site while making it accessible.
The structure uses a timber deck walking surface with a repeating wooden module system. The construction consists of steel supporting structure anchored to the rock, with wooden decking planks forming the walking surface. Metal railings with vertical bars provide safety along elevated sections. The material and construction solution includes a walking surface of repeated wooden modules, a steel substructure anchored to the bedrock, and concrete footings.
