A farewell space located on the water surface of Divoká Šárka in Prague, designed as a place for reflection, remembrance, and saying goodbye to loved ones, drawing from cultural traditions and the emotional significance of departure.
The project is situated in the Divoká Šárka area in Prague, positioned on the water surface of a reservoir. The building is conceived as a sequence of gradually unfolding spaces. Visitors enter the building via a ramp leading over water, creating a symbolic transition from the outside world to a space of personal contemplation. The triangular A-frame timber structure creates an intimate interior that serves as a place for communal gatherings, remembrance, spending time together, and reflecting on the life of the departed. At the end, visitors emerge through an open space with views of nature, water, or sky, before descending back to the shore via a second ramp. The locality benefits from good transport accessibility near tram and metro stops, while the natural surroundings of the reservoir create a sense of privacy, calm, and isolation from the outside world.
The structure features an A-frame timber construction positioned over water. Documentation includes a floor plan at 1:100 scale and a site plan at 1:1000 scale. The building orientation and spatial solution diagrams show the entry sequence, water-level interaction, and views toward the dam. The situation of wider relationships is shown at 1:50,000 scale.
