Idea projektu

A small civic building located near the summer spa in Lázně Poděbrady, between the park, Hotel Libenský, and a piazzetta. The project aims to respond to the immediate surroundings and integrate into the existing urban fabric while creating a welcoming public ground floor and residential upper levels.

Popis projektu

The building is situated opposite the summer spa in Poděbrady, between the park and Hotel Libenský and a piazzetta. The ground floor opens to the street as an information center with a café. The second floor contains a fitness center and the third floor is residential. The facade facing the piazzetta is perforated with openings, most notably a prominent staircase that acts as a visual magnet, inviting vertical movement from the street to the upper levels and the park behind. The building responds both formally and spatially to its immediate context. The urbanistic placement and basic massing follow the existing building line. Through a logical arrangement of the inner layout, the new building is inserted into the existing urban structure. The prominent staircase visible on the piazzetta facade functions as a connecting element between public and private zones.

Technické informace

The facade is composed of a system of vertical and horizontal strips of prefabricated reinforced concrete with an orange-brown surface finish. This coloring references the sandy character of local mineral springs. In contrast, the interior spaces feature raw concrete surfaces made of light concrete, symbolizing the traditional character of the spa environment. The floor plans show ground floor (1.NP) and second floor (2.NP) layouts at 1:150 scale. The building operation is designed with regard to natural pedestrian movement on the site. Three independent staircases respond to the main directions of access. Sections and elevations (east and south views) are provided at 1:200 scale.
