An entrance building for the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds inspired by the concept of fog, exploring the relationship between modernism and traditional cultural forms to create an atmospheric pavilion-like structure.
The project proposes a new entrance object for the Výstaviště Holešovice exhibition grounds in Prague. The design draws inspiration from fog as a natural phenomenon, translating it into architectural form through a series of vertically articulated timber and stone-clad volumes of varying heights. The building serves as a transitional gateway, mediating between the urban context and the exhibition grounds. The irregular silhouette of the structure creates a dynamic facade that references both mountain landscapes and urban skylines. The design incorporates gallery spaces, passages, and functional areas within its fragmented massing.
The building features timber cladding combined with concrete and stone materials. The structural concept uses a series of vertical wall elements creating compartmentalized spaces. The material solution includes prefabricated polycarbonate panels, waterproofing membranes, and timber structural elements. Floor plan at 1:150 scale shows the ground floor layout with circulation and gallery spaces. The project includes northwest, southeast, southwest and northeast elevations at 1:150 scale, along with a site plan at 1:1000 and an axonometric drawing showing the spatial composition.
