A municipal library in Roztoky u Prahy conceived as more than just a book repository — a multifunctional community center that integrates a library, coworking spaces, and public gathering areas into the urban fabric of the town.
The project proposes a new municipal library in Roztoky u Prahy that goes beyond traditional library functions. The program includes a library, coworking spaces, and community facilities. The building is designed as a composition of volumes that respond to the surrounding urban context, creating outdoor courtyards and public spaces. The design uses CLT construction with brick and metal facade cladding. The layout is organized across two floors with reading rooms, children's areas, coworking spaces, and a café. The axonometric views show how the building integrates with the existing urban pattern, connecting to surrounding streets and public spaces. The rooftop features green terraces that provide additional usable outdoor space.
The construction system is based on CLT (cross-laminated timber) with additional materials including brick, steel profiles, and structured facade panels. The energy scheme includes a heat pump system and photovoltaic panels. The thermal envelope analysis shows wall compositions with specific U-values. Floor plans for the 1st and 2nd floors show the spatial organization. Sections reveal the building's relationship to grade and internal spatial qualities. The sustainability strategy includes support for public transport, rainwater management, use of natural materials, and reduction of energy consumption. Elevations show the northwest and western facades.
