The design of a sports hall in Prague Ďáblice stems from the need to connect dynamic sports with a stable urban structure and public space. The building is conceived not only as a simple object but as a significant spatial entity that responds to the character of the place and its surroundings. The architectural concept works with the principle of gradually opening the building towards public space and creating connections between indoor and outdoor environments.
The concept transforms geometric forms of a crystal/prism to create a dynamic composition responding to the function of a sports hall. Sloping surfaces and articulated roof planes bring movement and energy, referring to the dynamic nature of sports activities. The building acts as an open spatial structure that connects the interior with the surrounding area and creates a contemporary architectural expression corresponding to the character and function of a sports hall. The interior design addresses all parts of the sports hall from both user and visitor perspectives, emphasizing the openness of spaces, orientation, and connection of individual functional zones including the playing field, stands, and entrance areas.
The project includes floor plans of the 1st and 2nd floors, east and south elevations, a coordination site plan at 1:1000 scale, and a wider context site plan at 1:5000 scale. The site is located in the northern part of Prague with good transport connections. The design includes parking areas for the sports complex and surrounding green spaces.
