A climbing and sports pavilion with a café located in the Divoká Šárka nature reserve in Prague, serving as a multifunctional base for active recreation in harmony with the surrounding natural environment.
The project proposes a sports pavilion that provides missing infrastructure including modern changing rooms, secure storage lockers, showers, and facilities built from appropriate materials. It addresses safety concerns by providing professional equipment and facilities to reduce risks and ensure safer climbing on the rocks. The building is strategically located to serve as a natural meeting point and base for the broader sporting and recreational community in this highly frequented area. A new café in the Divoká Šárka valley functions as a primary refreshment point, complementing the climbing and sports pavilion. The exterior features a terrace connected by a system of meandering pathways. Hygienic facilities that are currently missing in the Divoká Šárka area are also incorporated.
The construction uses a timber frame structure with a Fermacell board cladding on mineral insulation. The flat roof is designed as an extensive green roof on a new supporting structure, with steel columns serving as the primary load-bearing vertical elements connected to a steel beam system. The roof surface is clad in panels. The building utilizes a tensioned membrane roof profile with hidden fastening, using T-profiles and connecting strips to achieve a seamless natural appearance without visible fasteners.
