Redevelopment of Al-Midan Square in Baghdad, transforming a congested, fragmented urban void into a cohesive, pedestrian-centric civic space that preserves architectural heritage while introducing modern public amenities.

The project is about developing the Almaydan square and axis square that extends to the House of Wisdom and axis that extends to the historic Al-Mutanabbi Street. This axis is one of the most important axes in Iraq for its historical influence. The redevelopment represents a critical urban intervention in one of Baghdad's most layered historical nodes. Historically serving as a vibrant civic epicentre and a vital transport hub, the square has witnessed the shifting dynamics of the city's socio-cultural and political evolution. By reimagining its spatial configuration, the design introduces modern public amenities while meticulously preserving the surrounding architectural heritage. The intervention establishes seamless connectivity between historical landmarks and contemporary urban flows, activating the square as a dynamic cultural catalyst.

The revitalized Al-Midan Square transcends its functional role, emerging as an inclusive public realm where Baghdad's rich historic narrative actively engages with the rhythm of everyday modern life. The design preserves heritage sites along the axis while introducing pedestrian-centric spatial configurations.
