The proposed new building of the Special Care Home (DZR) is located on the corner of Schwarzenbergska and Pekařska streets in Prague 5. The building is designed as a modern social care facility with a capacity of 51 beds for clients requiring a special care regime. The design also includes a separate section for seniors with a capacity of 13 beds. The design includes underground garages, an internal atrium and a generously designed garden. The outdoor spaces are designed with an emphasis on safety, orientation and comfort of users. The design is based on a comprehensive urban design of the area and the surrounding context.
The urban design solution is based on respecting the existing street lines and naturally follows the character of the surrounding development. The design responds to the spatial and height relationships in the area and respects the scale of the surrounding buildings. An important element of the site is the green belt, which the design approaches sensitively and takes into account its importance within the broader urban context. The main, higher mass of the building follows the surrounding development with its height and completes the street front. The lower part with administrative facilities and housing for seniors respects the scale of the green belt and creates a balanced transition between the built-up area and the natural element.
The design concept is based on irregular polygonal masses that respond to the surrounding urban context and street lines, but at the same time freely complement them. The result will be a dynamic and contemporary whole that appears organically integrated into the urban fabric, but at the same time sensitively disrupts and enlivens it.
