Idea projektu

Concept: Tradition Feel
The Parra Tea Stall is a humble yet vibrant space where tradition and simplicity come alive. Nestled under the shade of a sprawling
banyan tree, it serves as a retreat for weary travelers, daily workers, and old friends looking to reconnect over a warm cup of
chai. The stall itself is minimal—an open-flame stove, a wooden counter, and shelves lined with clay kulhads. The aroma of freshly
brewed tea mixed with spices drifts through the air, drawing in customers. Seating is simple yet inviting—low wooden benches,
rustic charpoys, and a few upturned crates, all arranged casually to encourage conversation. A chalkboard leans against the counter,
listing a handful of offerings—steaming chai, crispy samosas, and crunchy biscuits, all served with a smile. The background hum of
an old radio, playing classic tunes, adds to the stall’s nostalgic charm. Time slows down here, allowing moments of laughter,
debate, and reflection to flow freely. More than just a tea stall, Parra is a place of stories and community. Strangers become
acquaintances, acquaintances become friends, and every cup poured carries a piece of tradition. Whether it’s a quick tea break
or an evening spent in deep conversation, the Parra Tea Stall remains a timeless symbol of warmth, connection, and the simple
joys of life.

Popis projektu

I have designed a tea stall that transforms an urban space into a more vibrant, inclusive, and enjoyable environment. The space is thoughtfully planned so that people from all walks of life can sit comfortably, relax, and spend quality time together. It encourages social interaction, whether through casual conversations, storytelling, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment with a cup of tea. Beyond its basic function, the design adds value by activating a previously congested area and turning it into a lively social hub. It enhances the user experience through a welcoming atmosphere, human-centered layout, and a sense of community. My main intention was to convert a crowded and underutilized space into a playful, engaging, and meaningful public place that fosters connection, comfort, and everyday urban joy.

Technické informace

The space is a compact urban area measuring 15 feet by 17 feet. Within this space, three different seating zones have been thoughtfully designed:

One seating area is located under a tree, measuring 6 feet by 7 feet, offering a natural and shaded place to sit.
Another flexible seating zone, measuring 12 feet by 6 feet, allows people to sit informally by spreading mats (madur), creating a relaxed and communal environment.
A third seating space is placed directly in front of the stall, measuring 9 feet by 12 feet, which serves as a more active and accessible sitting area.

In addition, a 5 feet by 9 feet space has been allocated for cooking and tea preparation, ensuring efficient service while maintaining a clear functional layout.
