Idea projektu

This project proposes a winery in Nandi Hills, Karnataka, India, as an experiential landscape where architecture translates the intangible culture of wine into spatial form. Organised through a composite curve, the design integrates production, movement, and hospitality, creating a continuous journey that connects landscape, process, and social experience within a culturally rooted environment.

Popis projektu

The scope includes master planning of the site, development of production facilities, tasting and dining spaces, retail, accommodation, and public gathering areas such as amphitheatres and learning spaces. The design addresses spatial organisation, circulation, and the integration of terrain, water, and vegetation systems to structure the visitor experience. It further explores the relationship between production processes and public interaction through sectional planning, gravity-driven systems, and layered circulation. The project focuses on creating a culturally grounded and context-responsive environment that supports agritourism while enhancing experiential and social engagement.

Technické informace

The project employs a context-responsive structural system combining reinforced concrete frames with RCC retaining walls finished in locally sourced granite from the foothills of Nandi Hills. Production areas utilise metal PUF sheet roofing within the sawtooth roof system, enabling large spans, insulation, and controlled daylight. Visitor spaces adopt terracotta-tiled sloping roofs, providing thermal comfort and a cohesive architectural language. This material palette ensures durability, climatic responsiveness, and strong integration with the site.
