Idea projektu

Urban Wellness Pavilion begins with the understanding that contemporary cities need more than outdoor equipment for individual exercise. In many cases, recreation areas support physical activity only at a basic level, while failing to create a durable environment for regular participation, belonging, and repeated social contact. People are given a place to work out, but not a clear reason to return, take part with others, and integrate activity into everyday life. As a result, these spaces are used only occasionally and do not become a meaningful part of the city’s social fabric.

The project approaches wellness as more than a collection of sports functions. Its goal is to bring physical health, social interaction, and public infrastructure into one coordinated system. Urban Wellness Pavilion proposes a new typology of public recreation space in which architecture does more than arrange sports facilities; it creates the conditions for recurring activity, collective presence, and a durable relationship between residents, local trainers, and the site itself.

The core idea of the project is a compact multi-level structure that gathers different forms of activity into one coordinated environment and supports them through regular programming, training sessions, masterclasses, and digital interaction. In this way, the pavilion becomes more than a place for exercise. It becomes an urban platform for everyday wellbeing, where wellness is understood as part of public life.

Popis projektu

The project is conceived as a compact multi-level public structure capable of upgrading existing recreation areas and giving them a more active and durable role within urban life. The space is organized vertically, allowing multiple use scenarios to occupy a single site and enabling the pavilion to operate throughout the day. This increases the intensity of use and allows the area to serve a broader range of users.

At the center of the composition is a core around which a system of platforms unfolds, each with a different degree of activity, engagement, and openness. This arrangement gives the pavilion spatial coherence and allows it to be experienced as one public object rather than a collection of separate zones. The architecture creates a continuous environment of movement, observation, and participation, where different levels of activity coexist within one clear structure.

A defining role is played by the project’s programmatic layer. Integrated displays support scheduled training sessions and masterclasses, giving the space a clear pattern of use and turning it into a recurring public program. For residents, this means access to a higher-quality fitness experience and a stronger sense of involvement. For local athletes and trainers, it creates a visible and durable platform for community engagement. For the city, it delivers recreation infrastructure that supports not only movement, but also social health, public presence, and everyday use.

Technické informace

Urban Wellness Pavilion is designed as a modular multi-level system intended for placement on existing urban sites with a limited footprint. Its spatial scheme includes a central vertical core, elevated platforms for different activity modes, a public entry zone, and integrated digital interfaces that support the programmed use of space.

The central core combines the primary functions of vertical circulation and establishes the main spatial and structural axis of the pavilion. Depending on the configuration of the site, it can incorporate a stair, an elevator, and an additional athletic function related to vertical movement. Around this core are platforms designed for different levels of use and intensity. This structure allows the pavilion to adapt to different public scenarios and urban contexts. Integrated displays are part of both the architectural and operational system of the project. They are used for training broadcasts, masterclasses, digital wayfinding, and the programmatic coordination of the site. The concept supports durable structural systems and prefabricated components, making the pavilion suitable for adaptation, scaling, and phased implementation. The project is intended for regular operation, high intensity of use, and a clear management model for municipalities and public-space operators.
