Idea projektu

The idea of this project is to explore Black Dandyism as a spatial and cultural framework, where fashion becomes a form of architectural thinking. The project is inspired by the need to understand how clothing operates as identity, resistance, and self-construction within Black communities, and how these same principles can inform the design of space.

The main objective is to translate the language of fashion, layering, tailoring, ornamentation, and silhouette into architectural systems that shape how people move, occupy, and express themselves within space. The project seeks to create an environment where architecture reflects intentional visibility, cultural expression, and the performance of identity through spatial experience.

Popis projektu

This project consists of an architectural proposal that interprets fashion as a spatial system. The main area of the project is the development of a building environment structured through principles derived from Black Dandyism.

The solution includes the design of spatial sequences informed by garment construction, where circulation is organized through layered zones that reflect clothing structure (inner layers, structural core, and external expression). The project also includes the integration of material systems that reinterpret textiles as architectural surfaces, partitions, and façades.

The space functions as a hybrid environment where body and building are interconnected, allowing identity to be expressed through movement, visibility, and spatial layering.

Technické informace

The construction of the project is based on a hybrid system combining architectural structure and textile logic. The building is made of a structural frame system that is interpreted as “tailoring,” where joints, seams, and connections are intentionally expressed.

Materials include lightweight structural framing combined with fabric-inspired surface systems such as tensioned membranes, semi-transparent panels, and layered façade elements. These systems regulate light, opacity, and spatial permeability.

The spatial organization is developed through layered construction principles, where circulation, enclosure, and program are separated into overlapping systems. The representation of the project integrates architectural drawings with textile mapping, collage, and diagrammatic studies to communicate the translation between fashion and architecture.
