Idea projektu

A rotating space settlement designed to house 10,000 people with 1g artificial gravity zones, featuring a hyperboloid structural form that spins to generate artificial gravity.

Popis projektu

SPANDA-1 is a space settlement concept developed in cooperation with NASA and NSS. The structure is a hyperboloid of one sheet, reinforced with metal and spinning to generate artificial gravity at 1.0 RPM. It features top living zones with residential areas including natural parks, agriculture, housing, forests and forest areas. The core hub connects to a maglev elevator axis called 'The Divine Thread.' The settlement includes spacecraft docks, observation decks, solar concentrators with computer-controlled parabolic mirror arrays, and an industrial discovery deck with asteroid refineries and docking ports. Construction drones assist in building and maintenance.

Technické informace

The structure uses a 2-meter slag jacket of compressed lunar regolith and asteroid waste with magnetic confinement fields providing continuous 360-degree coverage. Internal disc geometry features Coriolis-corrected spiral piping for fluid dynamics. A superconducting maglev interface enables synchronized counter-traffic loops for mass transit momentum balance and automatic counter-balancing. Cellular matrix partitioning with segmented bulkheads provides structural integrity. Acoustic metamaterial isolation dampens harmonic resonance. The circular structural disc incorporates top and bottom flanges. Solar concentrators use computer-controlled parabolic mirror arrays to track and capture intense sunlight.
