Idea projektu

This project emphasizes the approaches of forensic architecture, which value the structured environment as a form of spatial testimonies that is able to reveal concealed stories. The purpose of the project is to discover how architecture can function as a medium of research in the reconstruction of the Tucuman Arsenal, turning it into a Memory Park, where traces of terror are kept. The methodology includes various significant spatial analysis, mapping, and the integration of material remains with the study of similar case studies. Via these researches, the project evolves design concepts that turn testimonies into spatial stories. The project illustrates that architecture can operate as a research tool, contributing to group memory by translating sites of terror into coherent social and cultural environment.

Popis projektu

The design concept is formed according to the transformation of the current Arsenal site into a Memory Park via the integration of its existing spatial and material situations. Instead of introducing a totally unknown architectural approaches, the project operates with the existing structures, circulations and voids as main elements which describes the design. The approach highlights the conservation of the originality of the site while turning it into reachable space for social usage.

Technické informace

A mix of solid concrete shapes, open gaps and outdoor spaces create a prolonged spatial understanding where interior and exterior conditions are interconnected. Instead of dividing functions into separated buildings, the design lets them to communicate through common circulation and voids. This leads to a system while supporting a variations of uses inside of the park. The following section additionally describes this framework via a highlight on a landscape and memorial zones, analyzing how terrain, vegetation and overall atmospheric conditions subsidize to the general spatial and observed element of the design.
