Shorehaven Vertical Living presents a thoughtful response to the challenges faced by coastal communities affected by shoreline erosion. The project successfully combines housing, environmental restoration, and community spaces into a single vision. The idea of raising living spaces above vulnerable coastal areas is appropriate for the context and demonstrates an understanding of long-term environmental risks.
A notable strength of the proposal is the integration of mangrove restoration as part of the architectural strategy. Rather than relying only on built infrastructure, the project uses natural systems to help protect the coastline while improving ecological conditions. The cluster arrangement of the residential towers also creates opportunities for social interaction and shared community activities.
The visual presentation clearly communicates the overall concept and helps explain the relationship between the buildings, the water, and the restored landscape. The use of renewable energy systems further supports the project's sustainability goals.
- The proposal would benefit from a clearer explanation of the structural system and how it will perform in a coastal environment exposed to saltwater, strong winds, and changing water levels. More information about construction methods and long-term maintenance would strengthen the feasibility of the design.
- The project could also explore accessibility and daily movement within the vertical towers in greater detail. Consideration for elderly residents, children, and people with limited mobility would make the proposal more inclusive.
- Additionally, while the environmental strategy is strong, the connection between the housing units and the residents' livelihoods could be developed further. Showing how local economic activities can be supported within the new settlement would help demonstrate the project's long-term social sustainability.
Overall, the project offers a promising and environmentally conscious approach to coastal living, with a strong balance between community needs and ecological restoration.
