Project idea

The idea of this weekend cottage is to create a sensory and experiential living space where architecture is revealed gradually through movement, light, height, and perspective. Inspired by the concept of the "Fourth Dimension," the design focuses on time and experience rather than a static form. The cottage acts as a retreat space connected with nature, breeze, light, and sea views while maintaining privacy and comfort. The spatial journey unfolds through compression and expansion, creating emotional and visual

experiences for the users.

Project description

This project consists of a two-storey weekend cottage designed for temporary family living and relaxation. The building includes living spaces, bedrooms, private and semi-private zones, open terraces, skylight voids, and landscaped outdoor areas. The design emphasizes natural lighting, cross ventilation, visual connectivity, and movement through spaces. The ground floor contains more public and interactive spaces, while the first floor provides private family areas. The project integrates landscape, water elements, and open-to-sky spaces to enhance the user experience and connection with nature.

Technical information

The construction system consists primarily of reinforced concrete framing with brick infill walls. Large sloping roof elements are used to create dramatic spatial volumes and skylight openings. Timber, glass, textured plaster, and stone finishes are incorporated to enhance warmth and sensory quality. The structure is designed to maximize natural light and ventilation while maintaining thermal comfort suitable for tropical climatic conditions. Landscape features and water bodies are integrated into the site planning to improve microclimate and spatial ambience
