Project idea

A circular retreat in nature inspired by the mechanical parts of a fidget spinner, where the living room acts as the central pivot hub providing 360° access, and three circular pods form the lobes/wings of the house.

Project description

The cottage design translates the mechanical parts of a fidget spinner into architectural form. The hub is the living room, acting as the central pivot and providing 360° access to all parts of the house. The lobes are three circular pods that serve as the weighted arms of the spinner's wings. Key concept highlights include fluidity, where the organic shape mirrors the 'weekend' theme with relaxed and non-linear forms, and symmetry, where the radial balance creates a stable and aesthetic composition. The design features an integrated garden pod, central hub volumetric space, and pod interiors for bedrooms. The plan includes a kitchen, guest bedroom, living room, and porch arranged in the circular pod configuration with a pool and landscaped surroundings.

Technical information

The project includes floor plans, site plan with 9m wide road access, east side and north side elevations, sections AA' (south) and BB' (west), all drawn at scale 1:100. The design incorporates circular pod structures connected through a central hub with integrated garden spaces and swimming pool.
