Shorehaven Vertical Living is a regenerative coastal housing project designed to bring life back to Cemarajaya Village in Karawang, West Java, where coastal abrasion has gradually erased homes, livelihoods, and communal spaces. At its core, the project is about learning to live above and within an eroding environment, elevating everyday life beyond the reach of abrasion while remaining closely connected to the sea.
Through an adaptive vertical living concept, Shorehaven creates resilient elevated structures that respond to the shifting shoreline instead of resisting it, acting as a protective buffer for coastal settlements that have already been affected by abrasion. The project also integrates mangrove restoration as a natural coastal defense, helping reduce future abrasion while rebuilding the ecological balance of the shoreline.
Powered by wave and wind energy, it becomes more than just housing, it serves as a sustainable community space that restores social connections, revives local activities, and builds a new coastal future in harmony with nature.
