A sports-themed interior design project inspired by cricket, designed for a family where the husband is a cricketer. The form development derives from the cricket ball and cricket stadium imagery.
The project uses a user analysis approach, designing for a family consisting of a cricketer husband interested in bikes, cars, fitness, sports, nature and farming; a wife involved in business, social activities, travel, fashion, hosting events and managing her husband's business; and a 10-year-old daughter who enjoys exploration and dogs. The form development process draws from the cricket ball shape, evolving through abstraction of the stitched seam line of the cricket ball, emphasizing focus, rhythm, movement and levels. The concept incorporates the cover drive motion as a design element.
Materials include brick, glass, stone, and timber. The design process shows form development from circular cricket ball geometry through spatial arrangements derived from the ball's stitching pattern.
