Project idea

A house designed around the concept of music, where spatial sequences connect piece by piece, room by room, inspired by the life of an orchestral conductor and composer. The courtyard acts as the central refrain — the heart of the house — with spaces organized like a musical score moving from private to communal.

Project description

The concept 'Music-Inotion' draws parallels between musical elements and architectural space. The Silence represents quiet spaces that allow the conductor and music to breathe, treating pauses as having equal power to sound. The Crescendo experience moves from a composed (Piano) small space that expands into (Forte) long (Grandio) double-height living, rising towards the sky. The courtyard sits as a melody moving through a score, with the user moving in community, looping through, and expanding into the private, creating a leading transitional flow back to the rooms. Rooms include bedroom, study, living room, dining, kitchen arranged around a central courtyard.

Technical information

The design incorporates passive environmental strategies: Cross Ventilation where curved forms guide wind into every room functioning like notes in the air, with pauses introducing flow through composed corridors. Thermal Rest utilizes hot air entering the centre of the house, rising and cooling pool water through evaporation, cooling the air in bedroom and living spaces. Vertical Airflow uses the vertical courtyard as a chimney where hot air rises inside rooms and draws into the courtyard to rise up.
