Project idea

A bus shelter inspired by origami - the transformation of folded geometric planes found in origami, creating a dynamic and functional public transit shelter.

Project description

The bus shelter design draws from origami-motion as its core design inspiration. The form development starts from a straight plane that is folded into an origami-like structure. The project serves primary users including daily commuters, students, office workers, and local residents, as well as secondary users such as elderly people, tourists, differently abled individuals, and pedestrians. The program includes parking, entry, waiting area, AC waiting area, ticketing, pedestrian pathway, info display, and bin areas.

Technical information

Materials used include structural steel for the structure, ACP panels for the roof, ETFE/ETFE tetrafluoroethylene for the dome, R11/R12 anti-slip flooring, and WPC wood and steel for seating. The zoning is organized linearly from parking and entry through waiting areas, ticketing, info display, and bin zones, with a pedestrian pathway running parallel.
