Where Chettinadu meets contemporary - a design concept that blends traditional Chettinad architectural elements with modern contemporary design.
Eterna is an architectural project that fuses the rich heritage of Chettinad architecture with contemporary design language. The form is inspired by amoeba-evolved organic shapes. The design incorporates traditional elements such as modern jali patterns, central courtyards with elevated seating instead of sunken courtyard seen in a normal chettinadu house and exterior path surfaces using traditional stone and brick patterns. The design is a fusion of the contemporary with the chettinadu architecture reimagined .The landscape vegetation includes palm, citronella, echeveria succulent, sea urchin, and plectranthus plants. Materials include brick, woven textures, and natural stone, with an earthy colour palette ranging from terracotta and browns to greens and blues.
Materials include brick tiles, woven bamboo/cane textures, natural stone, and earth-toned finishes. Design features include modern jali patterns for ventilation and light filtering, central courtyard spaces with elevated seating elements, and varied exterior path surfaces including woven patterns and cobblestone.
