Project idea

An entrance pavilion for the Výstaviště Holešovice exhibition grounds that appears simple at first glance but serves multiple purposes, combining a café, exhibition spaces, a lookout tower, a souvenir shop, and a terrace with views of the Industrial Palace.

Project description

The green tower on the ground floor contains a relatively large café. On the second and third floors, visitors find exhibition spaces ideal for small exhibitions and informational events. On the roof there is a lookout point offering views across the entire Výstaviště complex. The red volume houses a souvenir shop where visitors can obtain information and buy tickets. The blue volume on the right end of the structure can serve as a refreshment area offering ice cream and lemonade. The terrace structure is made from recycled scaffolding with fabric stretched between elements providing protection from sun and rain. The large terrace area is ideal for seating with views of the Industrial Palace. The construction is divided into three modules, making it easier to relocate if needed. Despite its modest size, the simplicity and lightness of the construction holds unlimited potential, making it an ideal complement to the entire Výstaviště complex.

Technical information

Materials include reinforced concrete for load-bearing structures, sheet metal roofing for cladding, recycled wood, metal, plastics, paints, and glass. The floor plan and section are drawn at 1:100 scale. The structure is modular, divided into three relocatable units.
