An entrance building for the Výstaviště Holešovice exhibition grounds in Prague, serving as a gateway structure that mediates between the city and the exhibition area.
Project LUMEN is an entrance object to the Výstaviště Holešovice complex in Prague. The building creates a transitional space between the urban context and the exhibition grounds. The design uses corten steel and wooden elements as primary materials, creating a warm, weathered appearance that dialogues with the existing historical structures of the exhibition grounds. The structure features operable wooden louvers that control light and views, and the building program includes entry facilities and gathering spaces. The project aims to establish a dignified entrance experience while remaining respectful of the historical context of the Průmyslový palác and surrounding buildings.
The construction utilizes a wooden frame system with corten steel cladding. The roof structure employs a cassette ceiling system with wooden beams. The walls consist of corten steel outer cladding, wooden frame, and interior finishes. Operable and fixed wooden louver systems are detailed for facade treatments. The floor plan shows a rotated geometry responding to the site's entrance axis. Sections A-A and B-B show single-story spaces with varying ceiling heights.
