An entrance building for the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds complex, inspired by Mondrian's geometric compositions, creating a visually striking gateway structure using a modular grid of colored and transparent panels.
The project proposes an entrance pavilion for the Výstaviště Holešovice complex in Prague. The building takes the form of cubic volumes composed on a steel structural grid, clad with panels in red, white, and transparent materials reminiscent of Piet Mondrian's abstract compositions. The program includes a café, workshops, a ticket office (pokladna), a terrace, and a lookout point (vyhlídka) on the upper level. The structure is designed as a steel frame allowing flexibility in the arrangement of solid and transparent panels, creating dynamic visual effects and varying degrees of transparency.
The building uses a steel structural frame system with modular infill panels. Materials include steel profiles, corrugated red metal panels, timber elements, and glass/transparent panels. The building has at least 3 floors as indicated by the floor plans (1.NP and 3.NP at 1:120 scale). The section is drawn at 1:100 scale and the site plan at 1:1000. The structural system is clearly visible in the axonometric drawing showing the steel grid framework.
