Project idea

An entrance pavilion for the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds complex that serves as a gateway and gathering point, inspired by the concept of a transit terminus where visitors arrive and 'unload'.

Project description

The project proposes an entry object for the Výstaviště Holešovice area in Prague. It consists of two objects (Object A and Object B) placed at the entrance to the exhibition grounds. Object A is a two-story structure containing commercial and service functions including a café, information center, and commercial spaces. Object B is a smaller single-story pavilion housing sanitary facilities and a green terrace on covered parking. The structures use a modular construction system with containers adapted onto a structural framework, creating flexible and reconfigurable spaces. The design integrates infrastructure for service vehicles, public amenities, and landscaped areas with trees to create a welcoming entrance experience.

Technical information

The structures are based on container-like modular units placed on a structural framework. Object A features floor plans at 1:150 scale showing ground floor (1NP) and second floor (2NP) layouts. Object B is shown at 1:150 with a single floor plan. The site plan is at 1:1000 scale. Sections A-A and B-B illustrate the structural composition. The southern elevation (Pohled jižní) at 1:150 shows the relationship between both objects and the surrounding context. The construction appears to use timber and steel framing with glazed panels.
