Project idea

A foundation building for the Zdeněk Sýkora Foundation located in Prague Letná, designed as a multi-functional cultural space composed of four distinct programmatic volumes organized around a central atrium.

Project description

The project proposes a new building for the Zdeněk Sýkora Foundation in Prague's Letná district. The design concept is based on four interconnected building volumes, each serving a different function: an atrium as the main entry space, a gallery and multifunctional hall with study areas, a kitchen/café area, and administrative spaces. The building composition creates a dialogue between the existing urban context and the new cultural institution. The dark upper volume contrasts with the lighter ground-level spaces featuring generous glazing that opens to the surrounding park landscape.

Technical information

The building is organized across three floors (1NP, 2NP, 3NP). The ground floor contains the main entrance atrium, gallery spaces, multifunctional hall, and café. Upper floors house administrative functions and additional exhibition areas. The design features a combination of solid dark-clad upper volumes and transparent ground-level facades. Cross-sections (Řez A-A, Řez B-B) show the spatial relationships between the different programmatic zones and the varying ceiling heights accommodating gallery and multifunctional spaces.
