Project idea

A memorial place at the Red Tower of Death (UNESCO site) that uses spiral symbolism to create a contemplative space combining remembrance with a sense of journey, reconciliation, and hope.

Project description

The design concept draws from spiral geometry as a symbol of the cycle of life, suffering, and reconciliation. The project creates a memorial area near the UNESCO Red Tower of Death heritage site. The concept operates on two levels - the first serves as a place for remembrance and contemplation of victims, while the second level opens up as a space for reconciliation and hope. The spiral form manifests both in the plan layout and in the roof structure, creating a procession-like path through the memorial. The building features a circular plan with a perforated roof canopy that filters light, creating atmospheric interior spaces. The design integrates landscape elements with architectural form, situated within a green meadow setting with existing trees.
