Project idea

The aim is to create a community and cultural center in Cholupice, Prague 12, which currently lacks public spaces. The building should serve as a primary community center for local residents and as a venue for cultural events, offering spaces for leisure activities for all age groups.

Project description

The basic form of the building is derived from surrounding structures while not imitating their shapes. The object is designed to fit naturally into the urban context. The design stems from a disposition and placement on the site that creates a welcoming entrance area. The building transforms as floors progress upward, with the ground floor being the most open and upper floors becoming more enclosed. A distinctive element is a raised atrium/terrace surface that creates a covered terrace defining the main entrance. The opening in the roof gives the form an inspirational sculptural quality. The facade features a curtain wall system with glass panels, creating a transparent and permeable character. The structural system uses a reinforced concrete frame with columns as the primary load-bearing element.

Technical information

The main structural system is a reinforced concrete frame with columns and slabs. The building envelope uses a curtain wall system with glazing applied at locations where transparency is needed. Windows are approximately 3000 x 1000 mm with wooden frames. The facade panels are perforated sheets functioning as sunscreens. Floor plans are organized across 3 floors (1.NP, 2.NP, 3.NP) with sections (ŘEZ A-A, ŘEZ B-B) showing the spatial organization. The surrounding area is designed to connect pedestrian pathways with the local landscape, including green spaces and public areas.
