Project idea

A university training center for ČVUT located near the Slapy reservoir in Smilovice, integrating a training facility, accommodation, storage, and support facilities with access to an underground tunnel (štola).

Project description

The complex is situated within the ČVUT campus area near the Slapy dam in Smilovice. The site already contains an existing educational center, and the new design adds a training center, accommodation, storage, and facilities for entering the underground Josef tunnel. The building concept evolved through iterations, resulting in a sprawling low-rise structure that follows the terrain. The design features a green roof, concrete cladding, and Corten steel cladding, allowing the building to blend with the surrounding forested landscape. The building is organized across two floors with interconnected wings spreading organically across the sloped site.
