Project idea

An entrance building for the Dejvice campus in Prague, serving as a shared gateway and symbolic architectural element for both ČVUT and VŠCHT universities.

Project description

The project proposes a striking crystalline entrance pavilion located at the Dejvice campus in Prague. The building functions as a welcoming entry point connecting the two major universities - ČVUT and VŠCHT. The angular, faceted form with dark and translucent glass surfaces creates a bold sculptural presence. The interior includes a reception area, gallery space, a café/canteen, and exhibition spaces across two floors. The design concept derives from intersecting geometric volumes that are gradually shaped and merged to create the final dynamic form.

Technical information

The structural solution uses a steel frame construction with non-load-bearing glass curtain wall cladding. The building features opaque dark panels combined with translucent turquoise glass elements. The floor plan includes technical facilities, reception, gallery, and exhibition spaces on the second floor. The construction utilizes steel profiles with thermal insulation and a ventilated facade system.
