Reconstruction of Building H at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, responding to the needs of contemporary academic architecture. The goal was to create an environment that not only serves for education but also enhances the quality of facilities for the entire campus in Dejvice, Prague.
The design represents a reconstruction of Building H at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, reacting to the needs of contemporary academic architecture. The aim was to create an environment that does not merely serve education but also enhances the quality of facilities for the campus. The building's disposition is based on the principle of horizontal layers, where individual floors reflect atelier work, individual work, and consultation spaces at varying heights. Rooms are designed as flexible and multifunctional ateliers suitable for social discussions and presentations as well as individual work.
The facade employs three main materials: frosted glass lamellas serving as elements for privacy and partial shading, exposed concrete as the basic expressive facade material giving the building its massive character, and glazed facades as the main transparent element contrasting with the concrete. Floor plans at scales 1:300 show the ground floor through 3rd floor and underground levels. Elevations include south, east, and north views at 1:300, along with sections A-A' and B-B' at 1:300. Site plan at 1:1500 and broader context at 1:6000.
