Project idea

A gastronomy building named OPSON, derived from the ancient Greek word meaning 'provisions' or 'food accompaniment'. The project connects a restaurant, café with garden, and gastronomic teaching facility as part of a new administrative-commercial complex in Praha-Libuš.

Project description

The building is part of a new administrative-commercial complex located on a square that also serves as a public space. The gastronomic program is connected with education and extends into a garden. The name OPSON comes from ancient Greek, meaning 'provisions' or 'main dish', and in a broader sense refers to anything that accompanies bread - taste, smell, and culinary experience. The concept uses gastronomy as a medium for connecting people through food, education, and cultivation of urban life.

Technical information

The project includes floor plans for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, western elevation from the square, eastern elevation from the garden, a cross-section, construction detail at 1:5 scale, material solutions featuring wood and dark cladding elements, and a room schedule with areas. The building features a modular facade system with large glazed openings on the ground floor and a distinctive angular dark volume on the upper level.
