Design of a new building H for the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU in Prague, located in Dejvice, Praha 6, creating an atelier structure that provides space for the studio-based teaching of the faculty.
The proposal reimagines the atelier structure of Building H as a new building that creates space for studio-based education at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU. The architecture functions as an open urban landscape, with the main principle being an open style of education. The building is composed of interconnected studio spaces and a gallery-like open space. These flexible spaces allow cultural and social use beyond studio hours. The design encourages students to interact, facilitating communication and collaboration. The building includes open spaces for collaborative work, studios, and social areas accessible throughout the day and year.
The building structure is defined by 5 functional floors with flexible floor plans for various teaching configurations. Floor plans include galleries, open spaces, and garage levels. The structural grid follows a regular module of 1:300 scale documentation including sections A-A, B-B, facade details, and floor plans showing individual studios, workshop spaces, and communal areas.
