Project idea

A via ferrata trail in the Divoká Šárka nature reserve in Prague, incorporating architectural pavilions embedded into the rocky landscape to serve as sport facilities, rest stops, and transitional shelters along the climbing route.

Project description

The project introduces a ferrata trail system in Divoká Šárka, Prague, complementing the natural rocky terrain with bold red angular architectural volumes. The complex of pavilions serves multiple purposes - sport facilities, rest areas, and shelters. The lower pavilions function as starting points and rest stops for the trail, while upper pavilions serve as via ferrata route stations. The structures are connected by a suspension bridge spanning between rock faces. The design features striking crimson-red geometric forms that contrast dramatically with the natural grey rock and green landscape, creating landmark markers along the trail route. The pavilions include transitional spaces between the rocky terrain and the trail, with stairs and passages integrated into the cliff faces.

Technical information

The project includes site plans showing the trail routing through the Divoká Šárka valley, sections through the cliff faces showing how the pavilions are embedded into the rock, and detailed elevations of the architectural interventions. A suspension bridge connects two rock formations at height. The structures appear to use a combination of steel and cladding finished in deep red.
