Project idea

An entrance building for the Výstaviště Holešovice exhibition grounds that serves as an anchor point, combining gallery space, refreshments, and urban amenities before entering the exhibition complex.

Project description

The project proposes an entry structure to the Holešovice exhibition grounds conceived as a modular system using shipping containers. The geometric form of the container structure allows for flexible arrangements - containers can serve as bars, canopies, and larger spaces for various exhibition and commercial functions. The structure creates an urban gathering place for relaxation, refreshment, and cultural engagement. Modular containers form the basic building blocks, providing flexibility, easy maintenance, and adaptability. Perforated steel panels on the facade allow visual permeability while ensuring security. The steel construction serves as a connecting system for bars, canopies, and other architectural elements. Wooden elements soften the industrial character and create a warmer, more inviting atmosphere. Plant and integrated vegetation elements enhance the microclimate and contribute to a pleasant outdoor environment.

Technical information

The design includes site plans, floor plans, sections (Section A-A), and south elevation drawings. The modular container-based construction system allows for reconfiguration. The structure incorporates perforated metal cladding, steel framework connections, wooden interior finishing elements, and integrated greenery. The floor plan shows spaces including a gallery, refreshment areas, storage, and sanitary facilities.
