Project idea

The concept reacts to the surrounding landscape and utilizes the existing terrain axes. The main design element is the orientation of the building along landscape lines, creating a form that opens toward the countryside while maintaining a compact structure.

Project description

A university training and research center for the Faculty of Civil Engineering at ČVUT. The project responds to the historical context of the site and respects the surrounding urban structure and landscape. The building is designed as a transformable facility that can serve multiple functions including accommodation, training spaces, and research facilities. The structure is divided into two operational levels accommodating up to 20 users. The ground floor contains communal and social spaces with a kitchen and dining facilities, while the upper floor provides accommodation rooms and additional workspaces.

Technical information

The building features a reinforced concrete structural system with reinforced concrete columns and slabs. The facade consists of a lightweight cladding panel system with an air gap, XPS insulation, reinforced concrete framework, and additional XPS insulation layers with a green finish. The attic detail at the 2nd floor level shows the layered wall assembly. Floor plans are presented at 1:200 scale, with sections and elevations also at 1:200.
