Project idea

The designer wanted to create a modern undiscovered form of a new building that differs from surrounding structures. The concept explores rotation and rounding of the building mass to create a distinctive shape, with the building designed to offer views in all directions from each floor.

Project description

Dům u Piazzety in Poděbrady - a mixed-use building located next to a piazzetta in Poděbrady. The building program includes a café, sauna, fitness facilities, and spaces for personal use. The design aims to combine modernity and non-traditional appearance in the context of the surroundings and the city. The building does not try to resemble already existing objects but rather creates a contrast with the surrounding environment through its distinct form. The design uses rotation and rounding of floor plates to achieve a drop-like shape.

Technical information

The building is a two-story structure. Materials include graphite matte sheet metal panels for dark cladding, white matte sheet metal panels for lighter surfaces, and blue tinted glass panels. Floor plans show ground floor (1.NP) and second floor (2.NP) layouts. Site plan at 1:500 scale and wider context plan at 1:1000 scale are provided along with longitudinal sections.
