Design of a modern visitor center for the Josefov fortress site that provides adequate facilities for tourists and employees while connecting exhibition spaces, social facilities, and display of immovable heritage monuments.
The project proposes a visitor center for the Josefov site that serves both visitors and staff. The building architecturally creates two separate entrances to the underground - one serving primarily visitors and another for employees. The spatial layout of the area was designed to be intuitive for all users, meeting safety standards and ensuring smooth logistics and daily operations. The architectural concept is based on a simple cuboid form responding to the hilly terrain, with the dominant material being reinforced concrete. The main theme is a dynamic interplay of mass and lightness, functioning as both accessible communication and a clear visual directional line leading visitors naturally into the site. The ground floor contains reception, spaces for exhibition of monuments, and toilets, while the upper floor houses the exposition.
Reinforced concrete monolithic slab, skylight windows, full-surface steel cladding of the facade, safety insulating glass, reinforced concrete load-bearing wall, powder-coated steel staircase. Floor plans at 1:150 scale, site plan at 1:500 and 1:10000, sections A-A' and B-B'.
