Project idea

Conversion and revitalization of a former industrial building into a cultural center, transforming a brownfield site into a vibrant community space.

Project description

The project proposes the adaptive reuse of a former industrial complex featuring a distinctive water tower and chimney into a cultural center called IMPULS. The acronym stands for Inspirativní (Inspirational), Multifunkční (Multifunctional), Pulzující (Pulsating), Umělecký (Artistic), and Společenský (Social). The design preserves the existing industrial heritage elements including the brick structures, exposed steel roof trusses, and iconic tower while introducing new programmatic spaces. The floor plans across multiple levels show various cultural and community functions distributed throughout the complex. The interior spaces reveal the preserved industrial character with exposed roof structures, brick walls, and carefully inserted new elements.

Technical information

The project includes detailed construction sections (Komplexní řez), exploded structural schema (Rozložené konstrukční schéma), axonometric drawings, and TZB (building services) concept. Floor plans are shown for 1.NP, 2.NP, and 4.NP levels. The northwest elevation (Pohled severozápaní) and section A-A' detail the relationship between the existing industrial structures and new interventions. The construction details show connections between existing masonry, new steel elements, and roofing systems.
