Project idea

A viewing footbridge near the historic railway viaduct at Luka nad Medníkem, providing pedestrians with a panoramic observation platform that visually complements the existing stone arch bridge.

Project description

The project proposes a cable-stayed pedestrian footbridge situated alongside a historic stone railway viaduct. The bridge curves gracefully through the forested valley landscape, offering hikers and visitors elevated views of the surrounding nature and the viaduct itself. The design features a single inclined pylon with cable stays supporting a lightweight deck structure. The walkway includes railings and is designed to harmonize with the dramatic natural setting of the valley. The bridge connects to the terrain on both sides, allowing visitors to cross the valley while experiencing the scenic views from an elevated perspective.

Technical information

The structure is a cable-stayed footbridge with a single angled pylon. Technical drawings show detailed construction nodes including the cable anchorage points, the pylon base connection, the deck cross-section, and railing details at 1:20 scale. The deck appears to use a composite construction with timber decking on a steel frame. Structural analysis diagrams are shown at the bottom right indicating load distribution and deformation studies. The foundation at the pylon base and deck supports are detailed in circular detail drawings.
