Project idea

A film museum located in Prague 7, Letná, featuring a distinctive perforated facade inspired by circular film reel motifs, creating a unique cultural landmark.

Project description

The Museum of Film is designed for the Letná district in Prague 7. The building features a striking facade composed of a repeating circular pattern that references film reels and cinematic imagery. The massing is a compact rectangular volume with rounded corners, set within a landscaped public space with trees. The design includes multiple above-ground floors and underground levels, with the program organized around exhibition spaces, screening rooms, and public areas. The compositional solution draws from circular geometric forms that inform both the facade pattern and the internal spatial organization. The site plan shows the building integrated into the existing urban fabric with attention to surrounding context and pedestrian connections.

Technical information

The project includes a site plan (schwarzplan), wider and closer situational plans, floor plans for multiple levels (1st underground floor, 2-3 underground floors, 1st above-ground floor, 2nd above-ground floor, 3rd above-ground floor), cross-sections, south and east elevations, and an axonometric view. The facade system consists of a perforated screen with circular openings creating a distinctive pattern. The building has a clear structural grid visible in the floor plans and sections.
